Where do you start with the mighty Proteas? Their name is already indelibly inked into Cricket World Cup history – their rain ruined run chase against England in 1992 is folklore and so is their last-ball catastrophe against Australia in 1999 – but for ability alone they will take some stopping.

Crowds will no doubt flock to see Quinton de Kock showcase his wonderful batting skills. Add in Faf du Plessis, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir and Vernon Philander and they are busting with skill. Don’t bet against them doing real damage this time after they reached the semi-finals in 2015.
